Introducing King William Tower
A sleek, 38-storey high-rise tower will be built in Festival Plaza, adding significant public space and generating over $1 billion in annual economic activity.
Walker Corporation’s revised plan replaces a previously proposed three-storey retail building with this mixed-use tower.
Key features include:
- 36 floors of commercial office spaces
- 3,000 sqm of public civic space for events and exhibitions
- A grand glass foyer with views between Parliament House and Festival Plaza
- Two floors of food and beverage space with terrace-level dining
- 800 sqm of additional public space adjacent to Parliament House
- New public artworks
The development will attract 9,500 workers and create 1,300 construction jobs. It will stand alongside the existing Festival Tower, enhancing the area with new public art and improved sight lines to Parliament House.
A code amendment for the site will be initiated and tasked with consideration of aspects such as building height, design, heritage and interface with the Riverbank Precinct’s existing infrastructure.
Construction is expected to start in 2025 and complete by mid-2027, pending approvals and tenancy agreements.
